Talk is
Cheap is a free social media conference hosted annually at Centennial College's
Story Arts Centre. The conference begins with registration and a short
reception. Following is a panel discussion on a predetermined topic and a
series of participant-led workshops. These workshops cover a variety of topics
relating to communications, public relations and social media.
Talk is
Cheap 7.0 is the seventh incarnation of the event. It will take place Tuesday,
Nov. 25, 2014 at the Story Arts Centre (951 Carlaw Ave.). While previous years
have explored the role of social media in disaster relief, non-profits and the
sports world, Talk is Cheap 7.0 will feature a panel discussion on social
media's importance to branding.
Talk is
Cheap was primarily organized by Centennial College faculty until 2011, when
the torch was passed to students enrolled in the corporate communications and
public relations program. The event continues to be a success, drawing students
and communications professionals from across the city for a great night of
discussion and networking!
This
year, Talk is Cheap will raffle off several great prizes to support Leave
Out Violence (LOVE). LOVE is a not for profit organization dedicated to reducing violence in the lives of youth in our communities by
building a team of young leaders who communicate a message of non-violence.
Raffle tickets can be purchased at the door; all proceeds will be donated to LOVE.
Registration
is free! There will be complimentary food and beverages for you to enjoy!
